I thought it would be fun to share some of the things I’ve been loving as I settle into this third trimester of pregnancy. I mentioned it in my last post, but this pregnancy has been really different for me. I’m not sure I’m quite as tired as I was the first time around, but my energy has definitely plummeted over the past two weeks — here are some things that help me when I need a boost!

  1. Avocados. I eat 1-2 whole avocados a day. They’re chock full of good fats, and they don’t give me heartburn! On toast, in salads … love them.
  2. Up & Up Gummy Prenatal Gummy Multivitamins with DHA. I really like these vitamins for many reasons, but two of those reasons are that they don’t upset my stomach, and they don’t make me feel jittery. Although I typically take them right before breakfast, there are days that taking my prenatals has skipped my mind until a time I don’t have much in my stomach, and they’ve never made me feel sick. And two gummies a day is way better than say, 6 horse pills.
  3. Sargento String Cheese Snacks. Ever since our daughter Maile was diagnosed with a dairy and soy protein allergy in her first year and a half or so of life, I haven’t been big on dairy; I can’t get enough of string cheese lately, though. I eat two sticks at a time, usually with an apple, and I like that it’s a fairly healthy choice, dairy-wise, with a good amount of calcium and protein.
  4. CamelBak Eddy Water Bottle. My husband actually bought this water bottle for himself, last summer, and I kind of commandeered it. It’s portable, it doesn’t leak, and it’s easy to refill. Hydration: check.
  5. Gala apples. I’ve been obsessed with them since my first trimester, and that hasn’t changed!
  6. Coconut oil. In the first and second trimesters I dealt with some acne, which was a whole new ball game for me. I tried just about every product created for hormonal acne, and the only thing that got it under control was something I already had in the cupboards: coconut oil. I know “oil” sounds counterproductive when talking about acne, but trust me, it works. Plus, I know that applying it to my skin is safe for our little one.
  7. Gilligan & O’Malley Comfort Nursing Bras. Target sells a good selection of nursing bras, but this one is my favorite. These are my go-to when at home. Although my chest didn’t grow as much as it did with the first pregnancy (thank you, nursing!), it is getting to a point that’s kind of annoying. This is one of the bodily changes that comes with pregnancy that I’m not at all a fan of. I know some women love it, but I just want to be comfortable, and for me, a bigger chest isn’t compatible with that! So, wearing comfortable things has to do, and these bras are about as good as it gets in that department.
  8. Jack Johnson. I’ve always loved Jack’s music; it really helps me when I’m feeling moody (read: HORMONAL), and I’ve switched from listening to a pumped up workout mix, to Jack Johnson, while doing my workouts. It helps me focus too, especially on the days I’d much rather dive into a carton of Blue Bell than exercise. (Sometimes I do both, because chocolate.)
  9. Gap’s Pure Body Long-Sleeve Maternity Ts. I hardly bought any maternity clothing the first time around, and even though I’m smaller this time, I’ve embraced maternity clothing a little more (even though the great majority of it is still ugly as sin). I’ve tried on every basic maternity tee I can get my hands on, and these are my favorite. They’re incredibly comfortable, and I like them just as much now as I did at the beginning of my second trimester. They’re actually flattering, and I still feel like I can maintain some of my personal style through accessorizing.
