Whether Tim is on hitch or on days off, our days are always busy. Granted, they’re a little bit busier when he’s home, but even when our days are chock full of tasks, I love having him home. We cook and enjoy wonderful dinners, take long walks through the neighborhood, and always, always enjoy a little ice cream with our evening TV shows.
Last Thursday, Maile and I met up with a Twitter-friend-turned-real-life-friend at the Denver Zoo, then Maile and I spent the rest of the day snuggling. (Phew! The zoo can be exhausting for an almost two year-old.) Because we had such a busy week, Friday was for catching up around the house, and trying to rest. Saturday was such a beautiful, cool morning, that I decided to go for a run before breakfast (and coffee, more importantly). I ended my run at a local park, and Maile had a full hour of playtime to herself. I came home feeling really, really energized, and ready to take on the remainder of our day! Okay, so our weekend wasn’t that interesting, but it was full of quality time with my girl.
By now you may be thinking, “Who cares?” I like to think that someday, Maile will. I like to think that someday — or maybe even now — your kids will. And your oilfield man cares. Especially when they’re gone, they want to see pictures of you, and the kids (if you have them). I’d like to challenge you to take photos of the upcoming weekend, whether you’re just hanging out at home, on vacation, or exploring your local area. There is a simple joy in the mundane, and a beauty too! I’m not talking anything crazy, like a picture every day for the rest of the year. Just, document your weekend. Be thankful for it, for what it is. I think you’ll be surprised how good it makes you feel!
